OISTU Workshop
On 21 September 2009, in the framework of the OISTU project ICEG EC organised a workshop in Budapest on the topic „Assessing the Economic Effects of Broadband Developments in Eastern European countries”. The OISTU (Observatory of Information Society Take-Up in Eastern EU Member States and Southeast Europe) project (www.oistu.eu) supports the development of regional, national and European Information Society policies in the context of the renewed Lisbon Agenda. During the discussion the participants debated: the broadband developments from a socio-economic perspective, the spatial inequalities in broadband internet markets in CEE region, the role of 3G in the aspect of broadband use and effects and the role of public and Structural Funds in broadband developments. During this workshop we also had a project meeting of the „Broadband Coverage in Europe” project.
The OISTU Report, incorporating the outcomes of the workshop, will be public in early 2010.
